ROER4D weekly update – 28 July 2017

Sub-project 5 Lead Researcher participates in curriculum revision seminar
Gurumurthy Kasinathan, the Lead Researcher for School Education Department of the Government of Tamil Nadu. He contributed to the discussions relating to the development of syllabi and textbooks for ICT for senior primary and high schools. Along with other participants, Gurumurthy emphasized the need for the Education Department to release the proposed syllabi and textbooks as OER.

Year of Open campaign shares Open Stories
The Year of Open, a campaign organised by the101openstories project , led by Jenni Hayman, facilitated four sessions of open storytelling. This included a four-day series of webinars with guests from the open community invited to share stories about how they came to be aware of openness in their context as well as their experiences of working with or engaging with different forms of open. Details of the participants, which included ROER4D Network Hub team member Sukaina Walji, and recordings of the webinars are available on the Year of Open website.

DECI-2 publishes video illustrating approaches to evaluation and communication capacity development
The ROER4D project has been supported and mentored by the 10-minute video that captures some of their recent experiences and lessons including their interactions with the ROER4D project.

COL invites applications for Education Specialist
The Commonwealth of Learning (COL) is inviting applications for the position of Education Specialist: Virtual University for the Small States of the Commonwealth (VUSSC). The successful applicant will manage and implement the VUSSC initiative through approaches that harness the potential of open, distance and technology-enabled learning to increase access to quality education and training. Applications close 8th September 2017.

OE Global 2018 call for proposals
The call for proposals is currently open with applications responding to the theme ‘Transforming Education through Open’ due by 23 October 2017. OE Global 2018 will take place from 24-26 April 2018 in Delft, the Netherlands, hosted by the Open Education Consortium and Delft University of Technology.

Call for papers for JIME
The Journal of Interactive Media in Education (JIME) is currently encouraging submissions under general themes which include OER, OEP, open pedagogy, critical educational technology and MOOC research. Submissions are currently open with authors invited to submit articles for consideration by mid August for publication in 2017.
