ROER4D weekly update – 17 March 2017

ROER4D at the OE Global Conference
The ROER4D Network had a happy reunion on the occasion of the Open Education Global Conference held 8-10 March 2017 in Cape Town. Researchers from all the sub-projects attended and presented on their research. A number of the presentations are up on the ROER4D slideshare including a presentation as part of a keynote panel from Deputy PI Patricia Arinto. PI Cheryl Hodgkinson-Williams’ presentation outlined the development of a framework for the meta-synthesis of the ROER4D research. A number of ROER4D presentations are available to view on the ROER4D Slideshare while the OE Global website has links to most of the presentations. The ROER4D Network Hub team are also thrilled that PI Cheryl Hodgkinson-Williams was given an Honourable Mention in the Leadership Award for Excellence category from the Open Education Consortium, as part of the Open Education Awards for 2017.

Blog post reflecting on OE Global
A blog post by Robert Schuwer reflecting on the OEGlobal Conference gives an interesting insight into what researchers and practitioners working in open education are focussing on currently. In analysing the themes and topics of the presentations, the post provides a snapshot of the topics that form current areas of interest and concern. Additionally the post looks at how a key theme – that of educator adoption of OER – is better understood through recent research and how this might be brought together to develop strategies to enable and increase OER adoption.
