Sub-project 5 researchers present at National Conference on ICT in Education
Sub-project 5 researchers Gurumurthy Kasinathan and Ranjani Ranganathan presented papers at the National Conference on ICT in Education, which was organized by the Regional Institute of Education, Mysuru 1-3 February 2017. The Institute is the South India chapter of the National Council of Education Research and Training, the apex body for curriculum and teacher education at national level. Three papers were presented: 1. ‘Subject Teacher Forum – an ICT integrated model of in-service teacher-education’ by Gurumurthy Kasinathan and Ranjani Ranganathan;  2. ‘Exploring an ICT program through the TPACK lens – Case Study of IT@Schools, Telangana’ by Sriranjani Ranganathan and Gurumurthy Kasinathan; and 3. ‘Learnings from using Geogebra to support mathematics teaching in government high schools’ by Radha Narve and Sriranjani Ranganathan. The first paper will be further developed into the ‘PLC-OER toolkit’ which is a Sub-project 5 phase 2 deliverable; the second and third papers explore OER adoption and pedagogy through ICT integration. The papers are being revised and will be published in due course.

Working paper on Open Innovation in Development released
The HabariTek blog has shared a link to a working paper Open Innovation in Development: Integrating Theory and Practice Across Open Science, Open Education, and Open Data. Authored by Jeremy de Beer, Co-Principal Investigator of the Open AIR network, the paper integrates the concepts of open innovation and open development. It extends the theory of open development beyond the field of information communications technology to address aspects of innovation systems more generally. It applies the concept of openness to innovation in practice across the domains of Open Science, Open Education, and Open Data.

New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art releases digital works under Creative Commons licence
The Creative Commons blog has posted details of the New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art’s announcement that it has released 375,000 digital works for remix and re-use online via CC0. The Met collection of CC0 images can be browsed on the new CC Search beta.

OE Global Conference to mark 10 years of the Cape Town Open Declaration
Ten years ago, the Cape Town Open Education Declaration was launched as a manifesto for opening up education, and to mark the 10 year anniversary, the Open Education Global Conference will feature a Keynote Panel discussion to celebrate successes, reflect on the the changes over the past 10 years, and look forward to the future of Open Education. The conference will be held in Cape Town from the 8-10 March 2017 at the Cape Town International Convention Centre. Registration for the conference closes 28 February.
